Notwithstanding substantial minimum wage increases and regular strikes and campaigns by interest groups to increase their pay, government payments to hundreds of thousands of seniors on pension has remained the same. Only a few dollars a month was added a couple of years ago while galloping inflation continues.
Federal and Provincial governments should substantially increase pension and benefits without delay.
Why is this important?
Seniors are suffering much stress to catch up with their monthly bills and payments for their necessities. They are deep under the poverty line in Canada.
